How to Eat Healthy for a Superbowl Party

There are particular occasions where typical food choices follow a standard type of format. Thanksgiving is associated with turkey (not to their amusement), Easter with hams and so forth. And while the Superbowl is not associated with any organized religion, it does have its rituals, high on the list is the food.

America, it is no secret as a nation struggles with how to eat in ways that promote health in an enjoyable way. Now I want to let you in on a secret, that is not really a secret which is, this, healthy food and good taste easily go hand in hand; for real, easily.

In Philadelphia cheese steaks are practically sacred. When people visit the city, having a Philly cheese steak is a must have. Well, I made a seitan cheese steak that was delicious, even, beef eating meat eaters agreed. My recipe was inspired by Christine Pirello. If you are not familiar with her story she healed herself of a serious health problem (cancer) by changing from a S.A.D. (standard American diet) diet to a macrobiotic one. Here’s a link to numerous tasty, healthy recipes, from her PBS show. Browse freely there are about 31 pages. Plan a tasty, healthy menu. No one will feel shortchanged and there will less chance of heartburn, belching and other discomforts. Enjoy the game.

Movie Review: Enlighten Up!

Enlighten Up!Ok this is technically a documentary, or docudrama, not a scripted movie. With that out of the way, it was rather an interesting film. The premise is a little quirky. A newbie is immersed in yoga for six months and during this time the entire experience is tracked. Personally I don’t agree with the term skeptic. He is just someone who wants to understand. A seeker. Most people that call themselves skeptics stand outside of an experience, of which they know nothing, and criticize – something they really know nothing about. This guy has his own personal experiences in this movie. In my humble view more people should do this, then at least you have something to say…of your own experience, not hearsay. He does a good job of a complex experience. He seems to be a good sport too.

The film includes several amazing interviews even one of BKS Iyengar himself. So cool. Philosophical tidbits are strewn throughout for you to nibble on as you choose. All in all I give it a solid 3 hearts out of 4. It is worth viewing.

A New Year and New Additions coming 2010: Jewelry

I have always loved color and enjoyed playing with it as a child, mainly I enjoyed coloring. When I discovered jewelry it totally played into my love of color and crystals and meaning and healing and vibrational healing…whew, to name a few reasons why I so enjoy making jewelry. I have decided to add my art to my website/blog. Stay tuned to both areas.

My jewelry has always been about healing and intention from the beginning. It is not a faddish thing. I first started beading in the early 90′s with my daughter. So, I’m bringing my colorful beads, stones, crystals and other goodies, right here. Please stay tuned.
